How the French Manicure return

It isn't the way you recall it.

French Manicure

This summer, a new type of nail with a tumultuous past has appeared. The new-generation French manicure is ubiquitous, with choices including colorful and animal print tips.

Gigi Hadid celebrated her 26th birthday with a rainbow of French tips from celebrity nail artist Mei Kawajiri. Kylie Jenner has been seen sporting some kind of a French manicure, featuring Pucci-inspired stripes and super-long nails. Lizzo is flaunting her French pedicure. In recent months, Carey Mulligan, Hailey Bieber, Kourtney Kardashian, and Selena Gomez have all sported the look.

How the French Manicure return

“We've had increased requests for French tip manicures and even some pedicures in our salon,” said Nadine Abramcyk, owner of Tenoverten nail salon. “The super-white tip has always been a traditional style, but people are increasingly making it their own. This year, we've seen a lot of traditional red tips with a neutral, almost sheer base coupled with a more almond-shaped nail.

The French tip is so popular in 2021 that the Chillhouse salon in New York produced its own version, which may be painted on by a manicurist or purchased as Chill Tips, the salon's equivalent of a press-on set.
